Black Bodies FOR SALE

The USA was built upon white supremacy that uses black bodies for social, political, and economic world dominance.

Disdain for the PURPOSEFUL Pepsi ad and cultural appropriation in other ads is not “angry black woman” talk. It’s more than an “inspiration” from black culture. This is an issue that has cost the lives of my ancestors and my people. It is not a joke to me when people stock, store, and sell black bodies to make a profit.

My disdain seeks to defend the human soul of black folk against the COMMERCIAL EXPLOITATION that renders black bodies and black culture into things for sale.

Look at global slavery of African people. There were European ads telling people to come to Africa with pictures of naked black women. “Come to Africa where we have stolen their land. We can sell you some black women for your troubles.”

Look at American slavery where 12 of our celebrated US presidents owned slaves. Our Supreme Court called black bodies chattel and said we would never be citizens, even if ever freed. Our Legislature said that we are 3/5ths of a person for political gain of southern politicians.

Fast forward to 2017 where profiting from exploitation is even more common. Just as we were sold during slavery, black bodies accused of crime are being sold and traded on the stock market. People are investing in prisons and are ENSURING they get a return on their investment. Cash for Kids explores a US judge trading black children for profit.

Every time we discuss the selling and exploitation of black bodies they apologize and say they were just joking or they missed the mark. Pepsi made light of police brutality and other life threatening issues. “Oh I was just playin’ K Dot. C’mon you know Pepsi rock wit you bro”

Nah.

You don’t rock with us bro. If you rocked with us then protest this prison stock with us. If you rock with us, speak on Darren killing Mike on the block with us. Don’t use images of black women to inspire your advertisements, white wash it, and call it something different.

Black bodies in professional sports are used to generate billions of dollars for white supremacist. Take former NBA “Owner” Donald Sterling for example. He is a racist who believed that his players bodies were only useful to make him money. He speaks like a slave master when discussing “his” players.

Look at the NFL who profits from the unhealthy use of black bodies. But shuns players who decide to dare use their bodies in a “liberal way”. The NFL and affiliates may as well say, “Make those plays Nigger, but do not think you can be yourself here…”

Save your fake apologies. They mean nothing.

Black men, women, and children are publicly executed by police every day in this country. These murderers immediately get protection, praise, and money for their slaughtering of black people.

Pepsi trying to monetize the community outrage and protests of this genocide is UNACCEPTABLE. Not only that, but it’s on purpose. This ad sought to make the militarized police officer the hero.

US economics would not exist without the exploitation of black bodies. Alive or dead. Famous or infamous. We will not turn a blind eye to your blatant racism any longer. STOP USING US. WE ARE NOT FOR SALE!!
